Tomahawk Steak Perfection – 3 ways
The Stay At Home Chef
Steaks & Seasoning:
2 Tomahawk Streaks
2 t. Kosher Salt
2 t. Black Pepper
Compound Butter: (make in advance and chill)
8 T. Salted Butter, room temperature
2 t. Garlic – minced
2 t. Fresh Parsley – minced
1 teaspoon Fresh Rosemary – minced
1 t. Salt
1 t. Black Pepper
1 t. Worcestershire Sauce
Mince Garlic, Fresh Parsley and Rosemary. In a bowl, combine softened Butter and Minced Herbs. Add Salt, Pepper and Worcestershire Sauce. Mix until well blended. Place mixture on Parchment Paper and roll into a tube. Twist both ends to seal and refrigerate.
Season Steaks:
Season Tomahawk Steaks generously with Salt and Pepper.
Make sure to cover top, bottom and all sides of the steak.
(Use approximately 1 t. Salt & 1 t. Pepper per pound of Steak as it’s a thick cut)
100% Grilled Tomahawk Steaks:
Heat outdoor grill to highest heat allowing an area for direct heat but also a space for indirect heat.
Sear Seasoned Steaks for 3 to 4 minutes on each side over direct heat. Don’t be afraid to let the flames lick up the sides. You’ll know the Steak is ready to flip when it releases easily from the grill grates.
Once Steaks have been seared on both sides, move them over indirect heat. Adjust the temperature in the grill to 375 degrees F. Shut the grill top and keep it closed. Check the temperature of the steaks occasionally. (Thermometer placed in the middle of the protein, do not touch the bone).
Remove the Steaks from the grill when they reach an internal temperature of 130 degrees F.
Grill Seared – Oven Finished:
Heat outdoor grill to highest direct heat. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. On the grill over direct heat,Sear Seasoned Steaks for 3 to 4 minutes on each side. Don’t be afraid to let the flames lick up the sides. You’ll know the Steak is ready to flip when it releases easily from the grill grates.
Transfer the Steaks to a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven until the Steaks reach an internal temperature of 130 degrees. This will likely take 20 to 30 minutes. (Rely on your meat thermometer for accuracy.) Remove and rest Steaks
